Anglesey Abbey Winter Lights 1. Static Shots

I visited the Winter Lights Display at Anglesey Abbey last night along with members of Cambridge CC and Toft Photogroup. Clear night allowed stars to feature in some of the images. Here are the traditional shots from the evening i.e.keeping the camera as still as possible given the long exposures and large numbers of people!! I particularly likes the use of ultraviolet light to show off the large Allium seedheads. A batch of creative shots to follow.

Focus Stacking with Focus Rail and Infrared at Shortgrove

We had our first of two Start to Finish Days at Shortgrove Estate yesterday. We had two topics for the day - focus stacking and monochrome/infrared. I was using a focus rail - the first minute toadstool was the result of stacking 49 f2.8  images and the Gerbera 113 images (third image is one of the stacking images). I also used my infrared camera - the light was very dull so a different colour rendering to the last time at Shortgrove.

Macro at Botanic Gardens

We spent a couple of hours at the Botanic Gardens in Cambridge this morning - I wanted to further test the 50 mm Zeiss Touit lens on the Fuji and am pretty pleased with the results

Lackford Lakes 10 o'clock Kingfisher

A Kingfisher has arrived at around 10 o'clock each time with have been to Lackford recently and at 10.12am it was there on its perch waiting for a portrait. Tried to guess where it would enter the water but only got the reflection. Adult Great Crested Grebe busy catching fish and offering to its youngster.

Cormorants and Grey Herons at Paxton Pits

The Cormorants were sticking mainly to the water yesterday and leaving all the formation flying to the Herons - three of them spent an awful lot of energy flying round and scabbling over perches.

Mablethorpe SandRacing - Pictorial Shots

The very bright sunlight gave some great opportunites for high key images such as the first image of Sarah, John and Phil waiting for the racing to start. I also liked the images from my final position where we could get the bikes with a sea and surf background.
