Guernsey Weekend 4

Now back in Cambridge but here a few images from Sunday when the sun shone for a short while! Loved the cottage and Grape Hyacinths and how camouflaged the Hedge Sparrow is in its habitat

Guernsey Weekend 3

Sunday morning was sunny with even a bit of warmth in the air so we walked along the coast path from Grande Rocques to Le Grand Havre. Here some images to show the variety of different beaches in just this small stretch of the coast.

Guernsey - Milky Way Ticked Off Wish List

I was hopeful knowing that the skies are very dark in Guernsey that I would be able to see and photograph the Milky Way but have been disappointed so many times before. This trip the conditions were exactly right with two very clear nights and the Milky Way arching across the sky at a reasonable hour. Thanks Chris who took us to a good foreground point on one night. I used the 8mm fisheye on the second night to capture the arc right across Cobo Bay. A few starry skies to finish - last image is 7.5 minutes - I have a series of shorter ones to stack but not enough to make a good trail shot.

Guernsey - Light Painting on Cobo Beach

Guernsey visitors and residents must have wondered what was happening on Friday night as strange creatures roamed around the beach - some looking like giant millipedes, others with enormous eyes. Add to that around 10 photographers with tripods doing a slow backwards walk as the tide came in and one man wearing a very swirly skirt!

Guernsey - Sunset on Cobo Bay

These images are in chronological order and all adjusted to the same camera profile and temperature/tint. Interesting to see the changes in colour according to position of sun, time of day and for the fourth image the camera and lens used (this is XT1 and 10-24mm; others XT2 with 50-140mm)

Guernsey - Vazon Beach, Dogs, Photographers and Surfers

A beautiful sunny afternoon to visit Vazon Beach - not enough wind for good surfing but a bit of activity and lots of dogs (Golden Retriever pic for Matt and Ellie). We walked to the beach from Cobo (penultimate image - our hotel is second large building from the right) passing Fort Hommet.
