Day in Blackpool 1. On the Prom

On Saturday, we spent the day in Blackpool, along with a lot of other people! As it was coming up to high tide, we were confined to the promenade for a few hours so walked from North Pier to South Pier. Looking into the sun gave some opportunities for shadow play.

Tram Extension Works at Blackpool

The first image is an artist's impression of the finished £22 million Blackpool Tramway extension, which joins the route along the promenade to Blackpool North Railway Station from North Pier. It’s expected to be completed and opened in 2019. We enjoyed watching the cement being poured from the overhead boom, spread by rakes and vibrated by the electric probe and a digger shovel.

National Arboretum in Infrared

A brief visit to the National Arboretum, near Lichfield, on our way to the PAGB print finals in Blackburn on Sunday. The weather was changeable with heavy showers and some cloudy periods so it suited my IR camera very well.

Paxton Pits Walk

Last week, Paxton teemed with birds close to the shore but with the water level receding they have retreated further into the centre of the Pits. Trying out the new Fuji camera - very impressed with the focusing and the Precapture works well so a thumbs up there - only problem now is finding a workflow as Adobe Lightroom does not support the file format ( and never will for my Lightroom 6). so these are jpegs from the camera setting - need to tweak this for future use as a bit contrasty.

CCC Outing to Wandlebury

As it was half-term week, we arranged an outing to Wandlebury to photograph the colours and encourage the children to take photographs. Unsurprisingly, the children were too happy building dens to try photographing but Sadie took time off to photograph the group and her sister making a den for Peanut. One image from me of Sadie in her new bedroom. Thanks Yair for arranging this.
