We found a box of finger lights forgotten from a previous project and the girls had great fun dancing and drawing with them. Sadie, as expected, was quite precise with her drawing - I like the two swans in the third image; Meredith was much more flambouyant. Single flash during5 second exposure.

Fun at the Disco
On Monday, I photographed a local school disco for their magazine. For most of the time (images 1-6), I shot slow shutterspeed images (around 0.6 secs) with ETTL flash bounced off the ceiling and Rear Curtain Flash set. This meant that some children were caught in the flash but they also recorded while they moved around and if the bright disco lights hit them then this action was also frozen giving a variety of coloured hands etc. Obviously for the magazine, I wanted images that had the childrens' faces, but here are some of the creative ones. Images 7-10 are without flash relying on the disco light to illuminate the scene.

Ballet Photography Assignment
One of my tasks since returning from Devon includes photographing a local ballet school for their website - Bourn School of Ballet. The lighting in the Hall was beautiful with snow on the ground outside reflecting inwards plus tungsten lighting - difficult for white balance.

Christmas Day in the Miles/Ranson Household
Just the thing to work off a large Christmas lunch - thanks Matt and Ellie for an excellent meal - a bit of dancing to rotating disco lights. Sue Ranson proved a star at this. This involved a lot of changes of clothes for Meredith - here in Rapunzel wedding dress. Sadie completely loses herself in dance which is great to see. I tried some strobe flash but need to find out a bit more about getting the correct balance to not light the background. Only achieved the background disco lights in one or two images at the beginning - not sure yet what I changed!!
Final two pics of girls unwrapping pressies for the memories book!! Similarly, one of Peter and Holly that I really like.
