Tate St Ives

One of the reasons I chose  St Ives area of Cornwall for our shortbreak was to visit the Tate St Ives Gallery with its impressive architecture.
"It is built on the site of a former gasworks overlooking Porthmeor Beach and the Atlantic Ocean. Originally opening in 1993, architects Eldred Evans and David Shalev building echoes the shapes of the former gasworks, including the ‘rotunda’ that forms the heart of the gallery.  In 2017 architect Jamie Fobert designed a major extension with a new gallery sunk deep into the cliffs. The exterior responds to the natural forms of the coastline and their clay is pale sandy yellow, with blue and green glazes that capture the ever-changing Cornish weather and blend into the hues of the sea beyond."

Tate Britain - The Other Staircase

There seems to be very little written about Tate Britain's colorful staircase other than it is the work of David Tremlett who, in 2011, was asked to create a work for the entrance of the Manton Hall at Tate Britain titled 'Drawing for Free Thinking'. I greatly enjoyed photographing it both in wide view from various positions and some double exposures of the details.

From London Trip - Tate Britain

Our last full day in London was bitingly cold with a strong wind so we were delighted to be able to get into Tate Britain on an instant booking. It was the staircase that took a lot of my time using my 23mm fixed lens and 10-24 and fish-eye borrowed from Phil. I think I need another visit though we hope that, in the future, we will not find it so empty.
