Olympic City, Stratford 3.End of the Day

Final images of the set from our visit to Stratford on Wednesday. Quite a contrast between the deserted paths of the Olympic Park and the busy Stratford Bus Station area. Fortunately we had gone by coach as all the trains were stopped for several hours because of an incident (we wondered what all the flashing lights and sirens were!)

Olympic Park Stratford. 2 Velodrome, Canal and Trees

We were fortunate to have at least a few cyclists trying out the track at the Velodrome. I decided to use my fish-eye  (first four images). Panning with this proved interesting (image two) as it is very difficult to keep the horizon straight. Also a few more images of the canal, boats and graffiti and a couple of arty silver birch images - the second a double exposure.

Olympic Park Stratford. 1 Contrasts

We had the almost perfect day weatherwise for our CCC outing to Stratford, London yesterday. It started cold and misty, with ice on the canal and soft colours, and ended with an orange sunset.

Stratford Upon Avon

After visiting Permajet's Open Day, we headed for Stratford. There was still a bit of mist around and this gave beautiful soft lighting in the afternoon so a few images from around the river area. The second four images are multiple exposure images from the Canon 5DMark III around Stratford Parkway Station earlier in the afternoon where we left the car at the Park and Ride.

Butterflies from Stratford

A few pictorial images from my visit to the Stratford Butterfly House. I am still chasing that elusive Swallowtail in flight image!

Leaf Cutter Ants

When it got too cold on the fingers to photograph out of doors yesterday, I spent some time in the Butterfly House much of it with the leaf-cutter ants. I didn't have a macro lens so it was very hit and miss with the 70-200 mm and big enlargements but here are a few that I liked. The first shows the relative size of soldier ant and worker ant.
