Through the Kitchen Window

I decided to leave the seed heads of the Evening Primrose that are outside our backdoor a little longer and was rewarded yesterday with these Goldfinches feeding on the heads - plus a visiting 'black' Grey Squirrel.

More Shallow Depth of Field Macro

I continued in the garden with a Canon 50mm macro lens on my Fuji so set wide open at f2.5 to give some very interesting closeups.

Cyanotypes

As Saturday was a sunny day, I decided to have a play with more cyanotypes (see previous attempt last July here) The first of the three images shows the coated paper with specimens and various added substances - salt, paprika etc; the second after exposure before rinsing and the third when rinsed and dried. I think I probably exposed some for a bit too long to get the subtle tones - the 4th image shows the exposed brown state - interesting that the veins show on the leaves before washing but not after. I will try on a duller day for comparison.

Polarising Sheet Photography

Another technique that we will try at Freshers tonight needed a bit of practise - a polarising sheet on a lightbox both without a polarising filter - light background and with - dark background. These taken with G12 - should get better quality with tripod and SLR .
