Very Wet Spring, Hardwick Wood

Primroses, Oxlips, Violets, Celandine, Dog's Mercury are all in bloom in Hardwick Wood but not in great numbers and the Oxlips that are out have been eaten extensively.

Toft Garden Wildlife

While pruning the conifer hedge, I found this old Goldcrest nest - a beautiful small cup completely lined with feathers and one very small (old) egg. The other images show what flowers are out at the moment, a couple of birds already setting up territories and the only insect (other than honey bees) active (Scathophaga stercoraria)

Yearly Markers

Every year around March 21st, I record the flowers open in our garden to get a comparison with previous years. As everything is very advanced this year, I thought I would do one now. I will do it in a month's time to make the actual date comparisons.
