Cambridge Christmas Build-Up

Some images from Cambridge Camera Club trip on Sunday and what more appropriate for Christmas in Cambridge than a punt full of Choir members singing carols! We spent the first hour around the Market and King's Parade as the light faded and gradually the sky brightness matches the light below (so called Blue hour). At this time, there is less dynamic range so easier to capture images with even lighting and less harsh shadows, which makes it especially flattering for portraits etc. I was also playing with the Live Composite mode on my Olympus camera which continuously adds anything lighter to the image - usually used on a tripod (very good for water reflections and light trails) but can also be used 'on the move'. Last image not quite what I wanted - need the phone on a tripod as well as the camera but like the way the lighter areas bleed into the phone image.

Rainy Cambridge

Cambridge was the answer to a recent query 'in which City centre in England can you see cows grazing?' Add to this hay bales and it is a good description of Cambridge at the moment. Saturday was very wet and I felt the need for a bit of umbrella therapy. Although a lot less busy than a sunny day punting was continuing even if it meant looking like ghosts in their plastic wraps. It was Cambridge's Out of the Ordinary Festival which should have meant the streets etc were full of performers. Many were moved inside but this quartet continued around the City to the obvious amusement of shoppers.

Punting Trip

It was great to meet up with Alistair, Bev and Rowan after too long a break due to Covid restrictions. Alistair very expertly punted us up to the Granta from Mill Lane and then down as far as St Johns before returning. The river was very busy but the swans with their 7 cygnets didn't seem to worry about all the punts and people provided bits of picnic were being shared.

Sunny Sunday in Cambridge

We went into Cambridge to take images for a Photohunt organised for members of CCC. We had 16 places to identify from a photo and then take our own image from that spot. Most of these are taken travelling between the clues just to record Cambridge on a sunny Sunday in June 2021

Cambridge on a Sunny June Morning

Coe Fen and the River were still very quiet mid morning on Tuesday. Here a few images of people enjoying the area for recreation or just a quiet read or chat in the shade.
