Byron's Pool Grantchester

A few images taken on a camera club outing at Byron's Pool, Grantchester, yesterday evening as the sun set. It had very much an 'oil painting' feel rather than the usual soft watercolour scene with the waterlilies taking pride of place.

Byron's Pool

Byron’s Pool in Grantchester is the former millpond of Trumpington Mill. The mill disappeared many years ago. The current weir was built after the floods of 1947. A stream to allow fish to pass upstream was added after 2000. Lord Byron is reputed to have swum there when a student at Cambridge, and Rupert Brooke when staying at the Old Rectory in Grantchester. Images were taken in the evening using a Full-spectrum camera with no added filters and processed in Lighroom.

CCC Walk at Grantchester

Yesterday evening, we held our annual meet up and walk at Grantchester. Usually there are lots of Demoiselles, Mayflies etc to photograph in the reeds and long grass but this year has been so dry that insects were in very short supply but we our walk around the village produced plenty of photographic opportunities.

CCC Outing to Grantchester

Eighteen members of our camera club met up for a walk along the river in Grantchester. I travelled light with just my X100V compact and a closeup filter. I wanted to capture the abundant Banded Demoiselles and Mayflies in their habitat as with images 3-5 but I also took some at wide aperture that needed focus stacking to complete.
As the Fuji does complicated multiexposure, I also played around with that using different blending modes and some intentional camera movement.

Many Shades of Green at Byron's Pool

We took an amble along the river at Byron's Pool in Grantchester yesterday in bright sunlight giving great intensity to the colours.
