Cambridge University Women's Rugby Versus Swansea

Yesterday's Women's Rugby match against Swansea was held up for 90 minutes after a very early injury that required an ambulance to be called, so the light was pretty low by the end and required the Floodlights. There was also intermittent rain! However, it was a good game which Cambridge Women won easily. Lots of action to photograph,

CRUFC versus Ealing

As Chris was away for yesterday's match, I went along to photograph CRUFC's match against Ealing, a fully professional team. The result was as expected (17-52) but Cambridge managed three tries and fought hard.

Rugby - Steele-Bodger's Match

Spent an interesting afternoon photographing the Steele-Bodgers Rugby match - a contest between Cambridge University Rugby Union team and an invited team of professionals (a bequest from Micky Steele-Bodger a former England squad).  A very hard fought battle which CURUFC won. Images were needed both of the match and the hospitality side of the event. A difficult assignment as most of match was under not very bright floodlights and I don't have a 2.8 lens.

Cambridge III v North Walsham II

Yesterday's match was a bit of a challenge for CRUFC's third team playing a fairly local second team - ended up 10-52. It was also a challenge for me as my 100-400 telephoto has not yet dried out so I was using a shorter zoom and one not designed for sports/nature and they were playing on a pitch with a metal barrier all down one side.

CRUFC beat Plymouth Albion 34-28

Cambridge held onto their lead through the match though at one stage only a point separated the teams. I am very out of practice for sports photography so was pleased to get any photos sharp! The second image is my favourite - reminds me of the Mix-up game we had as children where you could combine random head, bodies, legs etc.
