On Sunday, I visited Cadwell Park with Phil for the Historic Racing Cars event. Brought back many memories of going to Brands hatch in the 1950s opnwards as a child. The weather was perfect for walking round the wooded and very attractive site though a bit bright and contrasty for photographing shiny cars! or for really slow panning. I varied the panning rate and found that the very small and very fast SuperKarts gave a real challenge (1/400th). For the comparatively slow Formula Ford cars it was around 1/320th and for the Sports Cars etc right down to 1/125th. Obviously head-on shots required 1/2000th and above

RSPB Frampton Marsh Birds
Overcast but largely dry day for our RPS Nature Group visit to Frampton Marshes. Not ideal for distant photography, but I did enjoy the landscape (later blog post) and a few birds came close enough for portraits in habitat. Frampton is renown for its huge flocks of ducks and waders and also Raptors - we enjoyed views of Peregrine, Merlin and, for one Member, Short-eared Owl.

Final Group from Cadwell Park
The third group of vehicles to race at the Classic Motorbike Meet at Cadwell Park were the solo motorbikes - 250 and 500cc. Mostly at Cadwell you are looking down on the bikes but in a few places you can get parallel or even below the bikes.

Sidecar Racing Cadwell Park
As well as scooter racing, yesterday classic Motobike meet at Cadwell Park included sidecars (racing along with three-wheelers such as Morgans). It was obviously a challenge to keep the third wheel on the ground when corning and various positions were adopted not always successfully!! Happily only a couple of occasions when the 'passenger' parted company with the bike and then no serious injuries.

Parrot Eyes
We are giving our two grandaughters a short break in a B & B
near Kings Lynn. Unfortunately the weather has not been very kind,
certainly not for beach time. Today we visited the Lincolnshire
Wildlife Park. The National Parrot Sanctuary have over 1000
rehomedparrots currently residing within the park with more than 100
species I got interested in the different eyes and facial feathers.

Ayscoughfee Hall in Spalding
As I had a bit of extra time before lecturing in Pinchbeck, I visited Ayscoughfee Hall and gardens near Spalding. This was a family home built in the 1450s, standing in 5 acres of Gardens. The gardens are full of features including this huge topiary yew hedge,an extensive aviary and large water area.
