All the Fun of the Fair at Hunstanton

One of our subjects for the RPS walk around Hunstanton was 'A Long Way from Summer' and certainly the Fun Fair in its winter state emplifies this well.

Edinburgh 1. Christmas Market

I am in Edinburgh prior to lecturing to the Photographic Society on Wednesday evening  and today spent the afternoon photographing the enormous Chrismas Market in Princes Gardens. The last image is looking towards Waverley Station as the moon rose.

Cambridge Getting to Know Camera

We had a day in Cambridge yesterday with CCC getting to know our cameras. I certainly discovered that I can't handhold the 50-140 lens at 140mm at 1/60th second (last image) but can hold the 10-24mm down to 1/8th second. Otherwise played with multiple exposures including panoramas at the Judge Institute and later at the Fair.

North Pole Cambridge Style

Fun at the North Pole Fair in Cambridge yesterday - mixture of wide angle distortions, slow shutterspeeds and multiple exposures.

Cambridge Winter Fair - Updated Dodgems' Lights

Always surprises me what the camera shows us that we don't notice with the eye. The lighting system on the dodgems has totally changed from last year. This year there are lights that constantly change colour on the poles creating geometric designs as the cars move and bump. It is the same camera and lens as last year but the images are very different.

Blackpool 4. South Pier and Pleasure Beach

We completed our 3 miles walk along the beach at the South Pier and Pleasure Gardens in time for a late lunch at the pier cafe that serves everything from All-day Breakfasts to Hot Roasts (glad not cold). By the time we had lunched and had a stroll round the entrance to the Pleaure Gardens - unfortunately now Ticket only, the afternoon light was great and time for the walk back.

The first image from the 1990s when the Pleasure Gardens were free. From scanned film, I had just purchased a scanner and was experimenting with  Photoshop2.
