Soft Misty Dawn

As there was an autumnal feel to the dawn yesterday with a soft mist, I visited our local sunflower field This year, it is quite sparse allowing isolation of the individual heads against a soft background. The sunrise itself never quite happened and it then started raining but not before I had played a bit with compositions trying to decide how many trees to include!!

I continued in the garden with a Canon 50mm macro lens on my Fuji so set wide open at f2.5 to give some very interesting closeups.

Macro With the Hosebaby

Last June, I attached a Canon macro lens to my Fuji via a piece of transparent hose giving a lens that acts like a Lensbaby in being able to move the focus point but also produces soft diffuse image due to the light coming in via the hose. Here are a few garden images taken with the Hosebaby today.

Great Year for Snowdrops

Snowdrops are putting on a magnificent display everywhere around us including our village. Here are a few from our churchyard including a ladybird making the most of the warmer weather. Also saw our first Brimstone today though didn't manage a photo. Similar views are using different apertures to see what works best in terms of throwing the background out of focus but keeping the subject sharp.

Shallow DOF Caldecote Church
