Final images of the set from our visit to Stratford on Wednesday. Quite a contrast between the deserted paths of the Olympic Park and the busy Stratford Bus Station area. Fortunately we had gone by coach as all the trains were stopped for several hours because of an incident (we wondered what all the flashing lights and sirens were!)

Santa is Just a Short Sleigh Ride Away
Lakeside is certainly selling Christmas hard with baubles and snowflakes everywhere. My favourite views were in the food hall where cold abstraction and isolation appeared to be the theme. I made a short visit to Lakeside before talking at Thurrock Camera club - thanks for the warm welcome.

Barking New and Old
I had a spare hour or so before talking at Barking Photographic Society, so I stopped in the town and had a browse round the Shopping Centre. Vicarage Field was opened in 1990 and has the usual mix of escalators and a splendid roof. The third and fourth images show the difference that an hour can make at twilight to images. Even in a busy shopping centre there is often a quiet spot to read.
Barking PS holds its meeting in an Elizabethan Manor House which is managed by the National Trust and open Monday-Thursdays. It was dark by the time I got there so this is a stock photo of the building. Thanks to the club for making me very welcome in this splendid venue.Thursday, October 3, 2013
Bluewater Shopping Centre
I have a bit of a backlog of images to post so here are some from a recent trip to the Bluewater Shopping Centre when I was down south of the Thames talking at Bexleyheath Photographic Society. The images are part of a larger project on buildings and their construction materials.

Kingston-on-thames
Stopped in Kingston-on-Thames last night in one of the more interesting locations for a Travelodge. I was made very welcome by their Camera Club and especially by Sue who provided me with an excellent meal before the meeting . Kingston-on-Thames appears to have a thing about telephone boxes, traditional, modern and neglected!!
The Bentall shopping centre is one of the most interesting ones that I have visited - built on cathedral proportions complete with stained glass window.

Harlequin Centre Watford
A quick visit to the Harlequin Shopping centre in Watford on my way to lecture at Croxley Green Camera Club and a chance to test the camera in my mobile phone. For a small camera it does a pretty good job.

Lakeside
I stopped off in Lakeside Shopping Centre before my talk to Thurrock Camera Club to have something to eat and couldn't resist a few shots including the above moon and pylon. I was using the G12 compact so quite impressed with the quality of this photo. It also meant that there was no objection from the Security staff to a few shots of the interior. The yellow fluorescent light and blue evening sky in the first two worked well but the later shots I have corrected the white balance.
