Birds at Bushy Park

Although we chose to visit Bushy Park for the Deer, we were very impressed by the large and relatively tame bird population. Here are a few from the visit  - starting with a Jay that had taken an acorn up into the oak tree to eat - followed by Green Woodpecker, Kestrel, Paraqueets, Jackdaw, Blackbird, Grey Wagtail, Stonechat, Egyptian Goose up a tree! and Mallard.

Garden and Local Birds

Our Dunnocks are paired up and displaying while a pair of Blackcaps come to our feeders. Already Bluetits are inspecting the nestbox. A Buzzard regularly uses the fallen stump in the field next to the house along with a Jay. The Stonechat may be passing through as not seen before.

Cambridge Botanic Gardens- Testing a Lens

I borrowed Phil's 55-200mm Fuji lens to see how I liked it as it is half the weight of my 50-140mm and hence useful for travelling. The autumn colours are just starting and a helpful Jay perched to test focusing. Overall satisfied though, as expected, not the crispness and contrast of the heavier lens.

Wicken Birds in the Rain

Beautiful and sunny when we left Cambridge and then very heavy showers arrived. The Moorhens did not seem to be too worried but the Kkingfisher and Jay stayed in the cover of the bushes.
