In total I spent 3 hours in Cambridge yesterday photographing as the sun set and then into night conditions. Here a set of images taken in the 'blue hour' (actually 90minutes) as the daytime colours change to night.

Yellow is the Colour
It seems almost overnight that our local views have become dominated by the yellow rape fields. Phone images only - must take a camera to record the fields on the next blue sky day; first five images from Sunday; last three today under grey skies.

Trafalger Square Fountains and Lights
The first four images of Trafalgar Square were taken yesterday at the blue hour as dusk arrived. The Christmas market added another dimension to the images but the fountains are the stars. We had a break for something to eat and returned an hour later when it was fully dark and exposures of 30 seconds were need. My favourite is the last image with the spotlight illuminating Nelson and the cloud breaking using a10mm lens.

Experimenting with Wet Cyanotypes
Before lockdown, we had plans to run a cynaotype workshop and had experimented making negative on film and printing cyanotypes on coated dry paper. I thought I would have a go at Wet Cyanotypes developed in the sunshine. Here are a few from the session showing the various stages and some results - more to follow. The things I experimented with were Clingfilm, turmeric, salt, citric acid and bicarb of soda. The images show some of the setups after exposing to the light with or without the objects in situ and before rinsing - brown coloration. Once they are rinsed in water the prints are a blue colour.

Chesterfield Market
Chesterfield has a very large bric a brac market on Thursdays - the set of images I took seemed to be predominantly red and blue and went well with four Nottingham ladies shot on Tuesday.

Hoar Frost
Beautiful hoar frost yesterday, starting with pink and orange hues reflecting in the ice crystals as the sun rose going to deep blues hues. I wasn't able to get out and photograph as I had other commitments but enjoyed the silver birch outside the front door!!
