The mist hung around all day yesterday and added a soft quality to the light for photography. There are some wonderful old oak and Sweet Chestnut trees there and, as usual during this month, some very large parasol toadstools in all the grassy areas. The flowers, including delicate harebells, are enjoying a bit of moisture after a hot dry summer

Bradgate Fungi
The wet weather resulted in a fine show of fungi at Bradgate and the soft conditions were ideal for photography. Here a few of the species. The first two are handheld focus stacks; rest single shots with aperture adjusted to size of subject and therefore distance from subject.

Grey Heron at Bradgate
Always a delight to photograph, this was a particularly photogenic bird at Bradgate, both in the snow and in non-snowy conditions.

Bradgate Park Early Snow
It snowed heavily for about 30 minutes after I arrived at Bradgate this morning giving some very attractive landscapes with a Chinese painting feel. The snow chnaged to rain so it was a very transient effect. The light level was low so it was difficult to record the deer in the snow.

Bradgate - The River
I paid a morning visit to Bradgate before returning home on Monday in very chilly and showery conditions. The river was full from all the recent rain and the autumn colours beautiful so a spent a bit of time with my Fuji compact capturing the flow of the water using the in built neutral density filter to give shutterspeeds of 1/60th (last image) down to 6.5secs (first image). The first two were with the camera on a rock but the rest handheld as the rain started and I needed to keep the lens protected. I can handhold at 1/8th but the 1/4 and 1/2 sec of some of these was a bit too slow.
