Evening Visit to Cambridge

A group from the Cambridge CC met up for a stroll round the city last night and I took along the Full-spectrum converted camera for a change of view. The resolution of the camera is not great but I do like the muted colours and soft feel to the images . Interesting to see a large number of people sketching along King's Parade - I believe this is an open monthly event.

Cadwell Park Historic Racing Car Event

On Sunday, I visited Cadwell Park with Phil for the Historic Racing Cars event. Brought back many memories of going to Brands hatch in the 1950s opnwards as a child. The weather was perfect for walking round the wooded and very attractive site though a bit bright and contrasty for photographing shiny cars! or for really slow panning. I varied the panning rate and found that the very small and very fast SuperKarts gave a real challenge (1/400th). For the comparatively slow Formula Ford cars it was around 1/320th and for the Sports Cars etc right down to 1/125th. Obviously head-on shots required 1/2000th and above

Hoylake 12th February: Wader Flocks in Slow Motion

Bright sunshine and clear skies greeted us on arrival at Hoylake on Monday so, just to be contrary, I chose a slower shutterspeed (1/125th and 1/50th) to try panning the large groups of waders. Because they move at different speeds and directions, the results are very random but I did achieve one or two that I like. I got a bit finger happy with manipulation for the second photo creating a wonderful flight of Kingfishers! Some straighter shots plus a panorama to show the huge extent of the wader flocks.

Half Marathon Continued

I took some wide angle shots at the half marathon, some panned at 1/125th sec to give an idea of movement. The wide view is taken at the bottom of the 'hill' while the cheerful faces are at the top of the hill where a great team of supporters were encouraging the runners to get to the top.

Final Group from Cadwell Park

The third group of vehicles to race at the Classic Motorbike Meet at Cadwell Park were the solo motorbikes - 250 and 500cc. Mostly at Cadwell you are looking down on the bikes but in a few places you can get parallel or even below the bikes.
