Contrasts and Colours

The bright sunlight on Friday allowed me to play around with contre jour shots using a 50mm legacy Olympus lens which has a very shallow depth of field even at F16 due to the length of the adaptor for the Fuji camera. It produces very contrasty images in terms of tone and colour but with soft out of focus areas. The aperture is not recorded and I forgot to note them but there is not much difference in terms of focus depth between F2 and F16

A Good Year for Bluebells

The Bluebells in the Cambridgeshire/Bedfordshire woods are very impressive this year. Here a few from recent visits - mostly taken with the Olympus legacy 50mm 1.8mm lens so manual focus only. I varied the aperture in some shots and really like the softness of focus and colour that this lens produces.. The last image is with a modern Fuji 80mm macro - the glass results in much more contrast and saturated colours.

Shallow Depth of Field Flowers

A set of images from the Cambridge Botanic Gardens using a very shallow depth of field (F2) and close-up lens. I did not find it easy to get the focus in the right place.
