Ely in Monochrome

 The clouds when we met up in Ely Marketplace streaked across the whole sky - ideal subjects for the pocket-sized Sony RX100 that I had converted to infrared some years ago. By the time we walking through the Park to the river for lunch, the clouds had cleared and the vegetation was very bright with the amount of IR being omitted.

Ely Multiexposures

We spent an enjoyable few hours in Ely photographing with fellow Camera Club Members - a wonderfully laid back city (Free Parking!) dominated by the Cathedral which still has some Xmas decorations around - spot the Christmas Pudding. We had some tasks but I didn't get further than 1. 'Double Take: Any technique can be used to produce an image that comprises two or more separate elements' and 2. 'Monochrome' - to follow.  The last two images are straight shots where copper-stained water has created mini-cityscapes.

Wide-Angle View of Ely

We had a CCC meet up in Ely plus the added bonus of a Photohunt set by Barry and Sue. I used mostly a wide-angle attachment for my Fuji compact which focuses close though it does then distort at the edges. Here a selection of images - all single exposures except the very last image with is a multiexposure.

Swans Awake at Welney WWT

We were very fortunate to have a beautiful sunrise for our early visit to Welney Wildfowl Trust reserve at Welney. We arrived just as the sky was lightening with a beautiful pink glow. As the sun came up the colours changed from pink to orange to blue. It was wonderful to see and hear the Bewick Swans as these are so much shyer than the larger noisier Whooper Swans (the two in the foreground of the second image)

Ely Cathedral Park

Images from a sunny walk in Ely Cathedral Park where I got intrigued by this old spreading London Plane tree. I couldn't find the origin and age of this tree though there is a Plane tree in the Palace garden that is said to be the oldest in England planted in 1630.
