There are photographic projects that I should leave in the mind rather than trying to complete - this panel of images of the various Tate Museums (Tate Modern, Tate Britain and Tate St Ives) is certainly one. I had the idea of displaying the various beautiful staircases on the sides of a sugar cube as a tribute to their benefactor, Sir Henry Tate, who made his money from the sugar industry. To do this I constructed a 10cm side cube with the images pasted on the 4 sides and the top. I photographed the 5 faces and then, using these as guides I made the 5 images below as composites in Photoshop, distorting the relevant top and sides to fit the template. Not totally accurate but with the corners trimmed and mounted on black boards they gave a reasonable 3D effect.

Very enjoyable couple of hours photographing in Tate Modern this morning - mostly with a fish-eye lens.

Tate Modern
We booked tickets for the Tate Modern yesterday where the Turbine Hall exhibit is an impressive installation of intelligent robot jelly fish and fungi by Anicka Yi called In Love with the World. The drone-controlled intelligent sculptures float around responding to human warmth so gather where people are, supposedly emitting smells though this was not apparent (https://www.tate.org.uk/whats-on/tate-modern/exhibition/hyundai-commission-anicka-yi). They learn from each other much as fungi react in the natural world.
It was ticket entrance with no queueing and the galleries were pleasantly empty giving great opportunities for the type of compositions that I enjoy.

Tate Modern Using Legacy Lenses
I often like to travel with just one prime lens sometimes using old lenses with appropriate adaptors on my Fuji. Here, two visits to the Tate Modern in London with Canon 15mm fisheye in January (first 6) and Olympus Zuiko 1.8 - both from my film camera days and wide-aperture lenses (f2.8 and f1.8).

London: Nightfall Across the Thames
When we arrived at the top of the Blatnik Tower, the buildings around the Thames were still sunlit. After a cup of tea and a warm up inside, the view had changed dramatically with lights coming on allover the city. Here some before and after shots etc.

London 4. Tate Modern Turbine Hall and Boilerhouse - Contrasts
We spent a considerable time photographing in the Tate both for the architecture and the displays. The colours of the Turbine House, especially with the striped carpet reflected in a large swinging metal ball and orange metal pipes supporting a series of swings, contrasted well with the concrete walls and staircase in the Boilerhouse
