World Pinhole Photography Day

Every year on the last Sunday in April, I try to take part in World Pinhole Photography Day. It is an international event to promote and celebrate the art of pinhole photography. These were taken in Oldbury Birmingham in the pouring rain under the canal bridge (no problems with rain drops on 'lens'!) using a home-made lens and old Fuji camera body and in the Travelodge with a unaware model.

Oldbury Cameos

Another walk around Oldbury yesterday centred on the very impressive electricity station and surrounding buildings and their security measures.

Oldbury Canal

As a leg-stretcher after driving to Oldbury (Birmingham area), I took a walk along the Oldbury Canal to where it runs under the M5 and where a lot of reconstruction work is being done.

Woodgate Valley Country Park

Woodgate Valley Country Park on the outskirts of Birmingham comprises 450 acres of many different habitats. I had a short walk there on sunday morning and was interested to find that, like Toft, it has a Bourn brook running through it. Photos taken on Sony Nex set by mistake to jpeg but has produced very acceptable images.

Road that Never Sleeps

This is just a reminder to myself not to book anything in Smethwick during the week in future years. The journey there on Thursday afternoon took over 3 hours as opposed to under 2 hours on normal roads. So I thought I would beat the traffic on Friday by leaving at 5.30am but, as you see, there was already a traffic jam through the road works on the M6.

Focus on Feet

I visited Focus on Imaging show at the NEC yesterday. I managed to only purchase one battery (apart from a new toy for Phil). As usual it was a lovely sunny day outside but at least this gave some interesting light inside. I spent a lot of the time looking at feet it seems.

Birmingham

I enjoyed a couple of hours in the rain in Birmingham today watching people and umbrellas. I also had time in the Bullring and around the Selfridge Building.
