Pine Woods in Full-spectrum Photography

My images using the Full-Spectrum camera  in the pine woods at Sandy on Wednesday confirmed that I was not alone! First this very laid back tree and then all those faces in the dead tree bark - reminded me of a William Blake etching such as the Vision of the Last Judgement. The last image is a bit of colour fun with Foxglove rosettes.

Leith Hill and Leith Place NT

A wonderful walk at Leith Hill in Surrey where the bright sunshine accentuated the fresh greens of the trees and ferns and the view from the Tower towards the South Downs was spectacular. After a 7-mile walk in the morning, I spent the afternoon at the very peaceful Leith Place, Ralph Vaughan Williams' home from the age of two till he was 20.

Kew Gardens 2. Trees in Infrared

After my recent previous visit to Kew, I decided to take my infrared camera for the wonderful old trees. Here are a series showing how the images change as the sun got higher - by midday there was so much infrared light around that getting contrast in the images is very difficult but I do like the ethereal feel this gives. More of the buildings and structures in a later blog

More From Shortgrove

A few Infrared images converted to monochrome - it was a very sunny clear morning so difficult conditions not to burn out the highlights inappropriately. I especially like the sunlit background behind the stark shadow trees in the first image.

St Petersburg Web Gallery

At last I have managed to at least get one Gallery up for the New Year Russian trip. More to follow as I also put a book together of the images. Web link for Gallery

Avenues

I am gradually sifting through the Russian photographs and will continue to post images as I find ones I like as, at the end of each year, I turn my blog into a book and it is good to have a complete record of my favourite images from trips. Here are some 'Avenue' views that I liked at the time of taking.

Winter Arrives in St Petersburg

As you can see, it snowed on our last morning in St Petersburg before flying home. I am looking forward to processing these images fully but I am putting up a selection of them now so as to complete my diary of the trip. A full gallery (or more!) of my favourite images will be put on my website in due course. Most of the images seem to work best in monochrome but there are some colour images around the city ending with a good bye to some very cold pigeons!
A wonderful trip and many thanks to Berni, Anatoli and Anya who showed us the rich heritage of their cities.
