Bradgate Park in the Rain

The forecast was for thundery showers in Leicestershire on Sunday morning but, undeterred, 6 RPS members met up around dawn to visit Bradgate Park. We didn't get the thunderstorms, just torrential rain with occasional 'drier' interludes when we could move on from one tree shelter to the next until the afternoon. Challenging conditions with obviously low light; the first shot was at 1/30th second handheld! The Grey heron was even grumpier than last year in the snow and it is amazing what other 'hobbyist' do in the rain - I am surprised they risked electric cars in the rain (my telephoto lens proved not to withstand such extreme conditions and is residing in a bag of rice at the moment - hopefully drying out)

Foggy Walk in Toft

After a clear sunrise, the fog rolled in and, by 8am, was very thick for the school run. Here a few images from my walk around the village and golf course.

Sidecar Racing Cadwell Park

As well as scooter racing, yesterday classic Motobike meet at Cadwell Park included sidecars (racing along with three-wheelers such as Morgans). It was obviously a challenge to keep the third wheel on the ground when corning and various positions were adopted not always successfully!! Happily only a couple of occasions when the 'passenger' parted company with the bike and then no serious injuries.

Stretham Autograss - Oh For a Step!

One of those occasions where I wished I was taller as there was nowhere at Stretham where I could get enough elevation to avoid the ropes and posts. Fun day trying panning but, as expected, the best and sharpest results always had too-prominent posts!

Road that Never Sleeps

This is just a reminder to myself not to book anything in Smethwick during the week in future years. The journey there on Thursday afternoon took over 3 hours as opposed to under 2 hours on normal roads. So I thought I would beat the traffic on Friday by leaving at 5.30am but, as you see, there was already a traffic jam through the road works on the M6.
