Greenwich and the Thames Path

On Sunday, we visited Greenwich and I retook the view that I had taken on my father's camera in 1953 and repeated in 2017. We then walked along the Thames path to the O2 Dome - so many new building have replaced the derelict factory sites though the Catholic church and Power Station still remain.

River Thames Lights

We walked the Thames path from the Arsenal to the Ferry a couple of evenings photographing the Ferry and the lights of Canary Wharf.

Thames Path: Woolwich to North Greenwich

On Saturday mornning, we walked through Woolwich and out on the Woolwich Route where my Aunt's used to live now all demolished and at the moment in the midst of a whole new building phase. We then went down onto the Thames path and walked along as far as the O2 dome, taking images as we went. I was using Sony RX100 which has been converted for IR photography, which has brought out  great detail in the skies and ironwork

Thames Walk at Woolwich

After settling into the Premier Inn in Woolwich, we headed out along the Thames path as the sun set. Beautiful light gave clear views of Canary Wharf and its skyline visible past the Woolwich Ferry upstream and downstream towards the Estuary. Lots of new tall blocks line the path and more are being added. All this so different to my childhood when we would cross on the Woolwich Ferry and play along the Wharfs and Docks - long gone.

Sunrise on the Thames

It was forecast to be a clear sunrise on Monday so we walked through to the Thames around 7am. These images are in order and show how the colours changed towards pink with direction of view and as the cloud built up. The exposures (for future reference!) in sequence were 20 secs, 20 secs, 6 secs, 1.3sec,1.3 sec and the rest 1 second, all at f22 using live composite mode on the Olympus EM1 II  - I didn't record how many exposures each had - obviously more where there were changes in the highlights being added as with reflections or contratrails. Not sure what passed behind St Pauls and left a dotted trail (?ideas)
