Birds from Hull and Hornsea

Although not a birdwatching trip, we did see a lot of birds during our visit to Hull area. The Hull and Humber banks had large numbers of waders and gulls at low tide and these cute Sanderling along with dozens of Turnstone were everywhere at Bridlington and Hornsea and were comparatively tame.

Modern Architecture in Hull 2

A second set of architectural studies, this time taken on our last day in Hull with very poor light featuring Hull College, the History Centre, which is part of the University and various other buildings. Unfortunately, we didn't get time to visit the University - another visit to Hull needed for that.

Modern Architecture in Hull 1

We chose Hull for our Christmas break partly because research showed it had some interesting architecture both traditional through the various periods but also some modern gems. Here a first set of buildings that took my eye taken in high key to give the feel of artistic architectural design plans though I would need to add a few 'model' people and trees etc

Walk Along the River Hull

Boxing Day morning, we walked up the north bank of the River Hull where most of the old buildings have been demolished. leaving a few standing proud of their surroundings. The first bridge that we photographed is the Drypool,  constructed in 1961 and we crossed over at North Bridge, 1927, both rolling lift bridges. The walk back was through the old town with examples of buildings from all the periods of Hull's long history. The museums are all closed for the time that we are here - we will be back at a future time.

Christmas Walk at Bridlington

We decided to drive to Bridlington on Christmas Morning and enjoyed a walk in sunshine along the beach and around the harbour. Since I last visited quite a few years ago, they have built a very impressive Leisure Centre - a good addition to my collection of architectural studies of concrete buildings!
