Wymondham Steampunk Fayre

Afew images from today's Dickensian Steampunk Fayre in Wymondham, Norfolk. There were some great costumes and some happy personalities inside them. The weather was pretty bleak with intermittent showers but everyone put on a brave face.

Nuneaton

Visited Nuneaton en route to speak at Shirley Photographic Society. Very well-maintained park with a free Museum and Art Gallery. Delighted to see and photograph our smallest resident bird, the Goldcrest, which was flitting around in a yew tree catching very small green 'bugs' (see inset).

Cannock Chase

Thank you Anna for the guided tour and for looking after me so well during my visit. Also to Stafford PS and Lichfield  CC for making me very welcome. Overcast day yesterday to explore Cannock Chase but still very beautiful with the autumn colours. I have included files processed  in Colour Efex (top) and Viveza (next two) with Raw adjusted file (right} to encourage those who have the Nik software sitting idle to investigate its potential. Quick adjustments on small laptop screen but hopefully give an idea of their use.

Bradford National Media Museum

I ran a coach trip from Cambridge up to the Bradford National Media Museum. The general consensus was that the content of the galleries was disappointing with lots of visual dispays but very little information and not the details we were expecting. The photographic content is particularly sparse with only one gallery showing photographs and here only an invited exhibition. Must try the new Media Space gallery at the London Science Museum where photographs from the Bradford Collection are displayed. It does seem strange not to have an equivalent gallery at Bradford.

In Praise of Trees

I decided to try a set of five tree images with the one from the previous post as the central image. I am not sure whether they work together yet. I will only know this when prints have been made.

Woodgate Valley Country Park

Woodgate Valley Country Park on the outskirts of Birmingham comprises 450 acres of many different habitats. I had a short walk there on sunday morning and was interested to find that, like Toft, it has a Bourn brook running through it. Photos taken on Sony Nex set by mistake to jpeg but has produced very acceptable images.

Time to Compose

I took advantage of a free evening tonight to process three images from recent trips using textures and composites ready for next week's CCC Aperture group meeting. I particularly like the three trees shot in the centre of London!
