Yesterday was my annual visit to Brandon Country Park for fungi (accompanied by members of the RPS Nature Group) and we were so lucky with a beautiful sunny day and very abundant specimens. Here some from the morning session - I was concentrating on the smaller unusual species in the leaf litter etc and on back lighting in the early morning sun. The first image Spathularia flavida is not recorded on the NBN atlas for the area so one for i-record and was complemented by the Hare's Ear fungus. Afternoon finds next!!

Historical Toft 1. Railway Embankment
When I moved to Toft in 1967 trains were still running between Oxford and Cambridge. It had been operational for over 100 years. The line closed after the last day of service on 30th December 1967. The embankment in Toft is completely overgrown but part of the original fencing is still evident while horses graze undisturbed in the neighbouring fields. The hoar frost and bright sunshine gave a new feel to the woodland.

Shadows, Cycles and People in Cambridge
Very contrasty light this morning for my walk from the Park and Ride to the City centre. The low sun gave long shadows and bright rim lighting.
