Welney Wildfowl Trust

The water levels on the Ouse Washes are too high for anywhere other than the main hide to be accessible. This added to the very poor light levels yesterday didn't give a lot of opportunity for photography but I did enjoy these starlings - obviously discussing the state of their world! Very few swans evident at Welney so I went for a drive around Pymore and discovered fields full of very muddy Whoopers!
(Some images are from my rather underpowered not-very-modern camera phone!!

Our Red Kites and Winter Visitors

We have a resident pair of Kites that fly around the house and are often seen in the local trees . This morning, the light was beautiful as they flew and then rested warming themselves in the early sunlight. There are also large numbers of Redwings and Fieldfare together with Starlings (probably immigrants) feeding on the abundant berries.

Southend Before the Storm

I took a walk along the front at Southend before giving a talk at Hadleigh Camera Club - always a difficult location to photograph with the mile-long pier but some late sunshine and impressive skies prior to a very violent rainstorm later helped the compositions. I couldn't resist the new versus old toilets or the rather starling moulting from fluffy juvenile to resplendent spotted winter adult.

Dorset - West Bay People and Birds (30/05/2023)

The strong late afternoon sun at West Bay last week created some great silhouettes and side lighting for the people and birds.

Starlings Leave Roost (Brighton 20th January )

Still catching up on images from trip to Brighton. This was my last morning when my planned walk from Brighton along towards Shoreham was a bit delayed by the wonderful spectacle, first of the starlings leaving the old West Pier and flying off over Hove and then by the colours of the sunrise.
