A walk along the disused railway at Burbush produced a variety of birds and this intriguing Whirligig beetle, which apparently has two pairs of eyes - one to see above water and the other to see under the water. The Goldcrest was in very dark conditions but the bright head flash showed up fairly well.

Wet New Forest
It rained heavily all day Sunday adding to the already very sodden ground. On Monday morning we had a heavy snow fall but there was only a sprinkling left when I went for a walk on the Ober Water Trail. The warm colours in the swollen stream were intriguing especially where trees were reflected in the flowing water

New Forest Welcome
We had Friday morning free so Rikki and I had a quick introduction in the sunshine to a very wet underfoot New Forest. The greens are extra vibrant with all the rain so a conversion to monochrome seemed called for!
