Evening Flying at Duxford

Here a miscellany of shots from an Evening Flying show at Duxford which featured a pyrotechnics display by two motorised gliders. Some of the shots were taken by Phil on my camera as he didn't get his gear organised before leaving for work in the morning (used faster shutterspeed 1/640th for gliders) while I used a slow shutterspeed (up to 1.6secs) to accentuate the trails and shapes. The moon wasn't quite full but still impressive.

Cambridge Firework Display

I decided on a wide view of the very colourful display on Midsummer Common last night to also include the crowd. The settings were between 2.5 and 5 secs, f22, iso400 except for the last one after the fireworks (3.2 secs, f10  iso1000). The breeze resulted in some attractive plumes and the cloud cover meant the light reflected back to illuminate the whole scene pretty well. Liked all the mobile phones glowing in the crowd!

Firework Practice at Bournemouth

There were firework displays at Bournemouth during the Air Show, very spectacular over the water and echoing off the cliffs. I took the opportunity to refresh my technique for capturing displays. These images were taken at ISO500, f22 and between 2.5 and 20 seconds, which gave a good exposure though it does depend very much on the intensity of the lights and the different colours.

Cambridge Firework Display

A couple of images from a very wet bonfire night on Friday in Cambridge. The fireworks at one stage were vanishing into the clouds and smoke so lots of oohs and not many aahs. The crowd scene at the end was my favourite from the evening.
