Snow Buntings

It is not often that a species gets a blog to itself but the Snow Buntings at Titchwell on Sunday occupied us for much of the morning and were a delight to photograph as they lured us further and further along the beach. Difficult conditions as there was a very strong wind so sand was blowing up and sometimes obscuring the birds. I like the three birds with recession in the second image and the last image would make a very tricky jigsaw!

Hunstanton Beach

Although cloudy from late morning when the RPS Nature Group met for a day photographing birds on Hunstanton Beach, the rain stayed away and we had a great time with a lot of birds to train our cameras on.

Burnham-on -Sea

A few images from a visit to Burnham-on-Sea on my way to Bristol on a very sombre overcast day. Burnham-on-Sea is part of the second longest beach in Europe with the iconic low lighthouse,  the remaining active lighthouse of three Burnham lighthouses  Whilst Burnham has one of the longest expanses of sand, it has the shortest pier in Britain.

Cromer Beach at Low Tide

Yesterday's tide was one of the lowest of the year and coincided with a very sunny warm day (until the rain arrived!). Just right for reflections on the wet sand and interesting foreground details!

Little Terns and Seals at Winterton

On Saturday, as high temperatures were forecast, I decided on a trip to Winterton (I was staying in Norwich); this proved a good move as there was a cooling sea breeze for the day. The colony of Little Terns (plus occasional Sandwich and Arctic Terns) rested on the beach and then flew around in a large flock when anyone approached. A couple of Seals joined in the fun for a time. Into the light and with light behind gave totally different image styles.
