Toft wood is a community wood planted in 2000. Here is one of the 40 oak trees that I planted on a very wet day in 2000. They are growing well alongside the Hazel and Alder bushes. Our 4-month puppy Ted enjoyed a walk along the Drift - always a favourite walk with our dogs.

Bus Shelters - A Study of Diversity
I revisited a topic that has been a long-term project and decided to look at a few local Cambridgeshire examples. Here some grab shots on my infrared compact camera in a jpeg mode - not sure about the bicolour effect it produced. I will revisit these with better equipment but they serve to show the enormous diversity of design.
To quote a very informative article on bus shelters:-
A good bus shelter is an essential part of any successful urban mass-transit system. What constitutes "good," however, depends upon your point of view. From the perspective of the city agency that is responsible for its management, a good shelter is one that has low maintenance requirements and is vandal-resistant. From the rider's point of view, an ideal shelter is one that allows visibility and easy access to the bus, is comfortable and convenient, provides clear information, and is safe.

We have had some very grey days in Cambridgeshire in the last week or so and Friday was no different with shallow fog giving very soft light conditions.

Cattle Market and Station Redevelopment, Cambridge
As part of a talk I am writing, I wanted to demonstrate the value of photography in recording local history. The upper panorama was taken in 2001, when the old cattle market had been closed for 25 years and just before redevelopemnt started to culminate in the Cambridge Leisure Park as now is (lower image).
More recently and still ongoing is the development around the Station area. The Spiller's Mill has been given a facelift as has the station itself allowing space for people to walk and cycle safely.

Frosty Morning in Cambridge
Very soft light yesterday morning for a trip in Cambridge with just a touch of mist. It cleared fairly quickly so, by the time we had completed our shopping, Cambridge was bathed in winter sunlight. 1good to see carpets of aconites already showing in St Johns College grounds
