Cambridge Infrared (again)

Thanks to Paula and Guy for an excuse to walk round the Colleges. Hope to see some of those fish-eye images on your blog soon. It is difficult to find new views in Cambridge but first three seemed to fulfill this and I do like the bike!.

Orange Moon

The full moon rose above our horizon about 6.30 pm this evening and was an amazing orange colour.  I recently read that it was a Super moon when the moon made its closest approach to Earth since 1993.

8.30 to Toy Town

Images taken with the Tilt and Shift lens showing the Toy Town effect you get with its narrow plane of focus. The lens was shifted and tilted for the second image.

More tilting in Bath

A few more tilt pictures from Bath - again with predominant purple in many cases. I realise that I only notice what colours are in fashion through my photographs!
The man and dogs worked best in monochrome as the background colours were very bright.
Then onto the train and back to Cambridge.

Tilt Lens in Bath

Decided to take the Tilt and Shift lens travelling to Bath today. I liked the purple element in each of these candids.

Visit Raptor Foundation St Ives

A few images from the flying sessions at St Ives. The falcons are always my favourites and this Lanner was no exception performing very well. The Kestrel and Eagle Owl also kept to pretty predictable paths. The Bald Eagle was from a static display while the Little Owl was meant to be flying but was too worried by an overhead wild Buzzard.

Sunrise through Condensation

I couldn't resist photographing yesterday's sunrise though my study window - very apocalyptic.

Botanic Gardens

Some graphic leaves taken in bright light at Cambridge Botanic Gardens today.

Falcons and Kites

Some images of Falcons (Saker and Lanner) and Black Kites from Thursday. It was a dull day so I had to use a fairly high ISO to get sufficient shutterspeed. In the final image the Falconer was catapaulting food high into the air and the Black Kites were attempting to catch it.

Owls

Four very attractive species of owl photographed at Hawk Conservancy Centre on Thursday - lovely setting but very difficult for the camera to pick up the owls as they fly through the trees. Two noctornal owls with dark eyes, the Ural Owl and Tawny Owl, and two crepuscular owls with amber eyes, the Eagle Owl and Snowy Owl.

Late Afternoon in Bath

Four images taken with the Lumix on way back to Bracknell from an Away Day at RPS in Bath. The staircase and columns are part of the new development opposite the station. The sun had come out during the late morning but had not fully burnt off the mist so the lighting on the platforms was beautiful. I especially like the well-trained pigeon that walked into just the right position.

London in Monochrome

I had a bit of time today to process some of the London images from our visit in December and have put a new gallery on my website (Kensington area London). Now just need the time to print a few!

A Day in Cambridge

An enjoyable day showing Jan and Philip, visiting photographers from the Netherlands, round Cambridge. Thanks for the loan of a tripod to do the interior of Pembroke Chapel, one of the earliest Christopher Wren-designed buildings. Then a few images before I had to catch the bus home from a twilight shoot arranged for Advanced Photographers' new feature on Camera Clubs. It will be interesting to see what Nigel, Marcus and Sarah have produced for the article.
