The weather and some lost car keys were the only things that detracted from a perfect day at Brandon yesterday - there were abundant fungi of lots of species, many very colourful, to keep our group of a dozen photographers very happy on their knees for the day. The overcast conditions meant that burn out of the whites and unwanted shadows were not a problem but the low light levels gave a bit of a problem spotting species under the leaf canopy.

Fungi Photography Planning Visit
I spent this morning planning tomorrow's RPS visit on site and was delighted to find a good variety of species. the light level was very low but did give some lovely soft muted autumn colours. A bit more light tomorrow would be good. Taken with Fuji XV100 single shots or Olympus 12-45 stacked images

Paxton Fungi
Although not abundant as in some years, there are fungi to be found at Paxton and some, like these Mycena form some very attractive clumps. I had my UV torch with me as interested in the different colours that the various species reflect when lit with this wavelength.

Launde Walled Garden
The walled garden at Launde is very extensive with several borders of perennials as well as the Vegetables and Fruit trees. I got immersed in photographing the flowers covered in dew with the misty backgrounds and almost missed breakfast on Saturday.

Bradgate Park
This young Jackdaw was about as happy as we were for our visit to Bradgate yesterday - overcast and damp with low light values. I am always surprised to see young fallow deer still suckling when mating is in full progress. There were lots of ritual displays evident from decorating the antlers to active fighting and the youngsters were also joining in though never in a good clear area! We spent a time along the stream and were pleased to record deer and squirrels drinking.
