I spent the afternoon at Bradgate Park (Linford Newton area) on Sunday doing a recce for Monday's RPS outing. There was quite a lot of bellowing going on in the wooded area while other stags were either wandering around or resting after a busy morning!. The mist hung around all afternoon giving very understated images in terms of colour and details very much the feel of the place and time.

Misty Afternoon at Bradgate Park
The mist hung around all day yesterday and added a soft quality to the light for photography. There are some wonderful old oak and Sweet Chestnut trees there and, as usual during this month, some very large parasol toadstools in all the grassy areas. The flowers, including delicate harebells, are enjoying a bit of moisture after a hot dry summer

NPP Convention 2025
Spending the weekend at Launde Abbey in Leicestershire - a beautiful Estate not far from Rutland Water. We come here every 2 years at about the same time - in 2023 the grounds (and all the surrounding roads) were flooded. This year - the opposite; the grassland is dry with no water in the small ponds so I was not surprised to find very few toadstools. (NPP website)

Paxton Snail Survey
Yesterday we sampled the water and banks of two more water locations at Paxton Pits and a couple of land areas, recording all the Snails that we found. Here are just a selection of the species that we found. Richard Preece identified 30 different species during our hunt - many thanks!!
