Lakenheath Long-Lens Wildlife

I was using a long lens (800mm full-frame equivalent) to capture some of the more 'sensitive' wildlife at Lakenheath, including this Common Lizard (Zootoca vivpara) which should be common also at Paxton Pits but has yet to be definitely recorded I believe. The IDs for the rest are on the final image.

Lakenheath Wildlife Through 60mm Macro

I was carrying the small lightweight Olympus 60mm macro yesterday as well as a telephoto for any birds that might appear. Here are some of the insects and spiders lurking in the undergrowth. It had been very windy so the spiders had not formed webs but we managed to find the three species of Araneus. IDs will be on tomorrows blog with rest of insects using long lens.

Points of View Cambridge 2025

Cambridge was very crowded on Saturday especially along the Backs and King's Parade - some of our photographic tasks involved tourists and well know buildings of Cambridge but, for the last topic, we had to seek out less-popular areas. Here a few images from this topic: "the Cambridge tourists tend not to see", starting with a Heron in Darwin College Garden and ending with a self-portrait in a metal hoarding!!

Garden Species 17th September

Raining for most of the day on and off but also a bright interval or two when I ventured out with my camera to see what insects were active. As usual, lots of plant bugs but also a Pine Ladybird and several other species (ID sheet at end)

Galls Found on Trees on Coe Fen in Cambridge

I managed 2 hours Gall-hunting with the Cambridge Natural History Society before the wind and rain arrived and was pleased with the number that we found particularly on the Oak Trees.
