As a leg-stretcher after driving to Oldbury (Birmingham area), I took a walk along the Oldbury Canal to where it runs under the M5 and where a lot of reconstruction work is being done.

Far Ings Reserve Humberside - Bittern and Friends
It is not often you go to a reserve hoping to see a target species but, yesterday, we were lucky and within a short while of arriving at Far Ings everyone in the Nature Group party had photographed a Bittern as it walked across the reed bed. Otherwise the reserve was fairly quiet but there was enough around to keep my camera happy.

Blacktoft Sands
Very mixed weather yesterday did not deter the RPS Nature Group members from fully exploring Blacktoft Sands RSPB reserve and we were rewarded with a number of good sightings including Marsh Harriers, Barn Owl, lots of Ducks, Snipe, Reed Bunting, Little Grebe etc. The first image shows a Marsh Harrier approaching the Barn Owl which resulted in it flying off before we had had long to enjoy its hunting.

Potteric Car Nature Reserve
This Crow was having a great time throwing leaves up into the air, presumably hunting food among the leaves, and watched by a Robin. Great to see Roe Deer close as most birds/animals were at a distance. Other cameos to give the feel of the area.

Paxton Pits
The mist cleared at Paxton on Saturday to give some wonderful reflections with the absence of wind. Cormorants, Herons, Coot and Moorhens were all getting on with building nests and setting up territories etc
