The Beewolf Wasps come to the end of their season but there are abundant other Hymenoptera feeding, mating and nest building. I think the bandied mating bees are the Heather colletes, Colletes cunicularius, and the very pale bee may be its cuckoo bee, Epeolus cruciger . The other parasitic species, the Ruby-tailed wasp Chrysis ignita, were present in large numbers

London: Shapes, Colours and People
I always enjoy trips to London for the opportunity to photograph a wide variety of different architecture - both finished and in construction, the vibrant colours and the interactions with people. The first image is a bit fanciful, reimagining Kings Cross Station roof with a double arch. The double doors on Russell Square for number 19 with its double knockers intrigued me almost as if there two houses number 1 and number 9.

Walk King's Cross to Pall Mall
On Sunday, I walked from Kings Cross Station to Pall Mall enjoying the diversity that is London, here represented by shots from Manette Street in Soho. It has such a variety of building - new and old, underconstruction and ready for demolition, open and locked and colourful and monochromatic. the Chapel of St Barnabus in Soho is firmly padlocked but a sprig of flowers has escaped. With all this in one street, it is a wonder I made my destination in time to photograph an event.

Local Walks 1.Toft to Comberton
This is the first in what I hope will be documentation of the extensive walks commencing in my village in South Cambridgeshire. It is probably one of those most ancient walks connecting Toft and Comberton churches. For instance, John Bunyan is reputed to have preached in Toft in 1659 and may well have also visited Comberton via this path which goes in a straight line connecting the churches. It starts in the lane beside toft Church, then crosses the Merdian Golf Course and then heads in a straight line to comberton church across. It is definitely for those who like wide open skies - the radio telescopes at Lord Bridge showing on the horizon..
