Dorset 6 Kingcombe Centre Wildlife

The Kingcombe National Nature Reserve and the Dorset Wildlife Trust Kingcombe Centre border our accommodation at Higher Kingcombe so a walk there, morning drink and a ramble in the meadows is always on the agenda for our CCC trips here. The insects etc are much sparser this year but still some good finds - Crab Spider, lots of flies, bees and beetles

Dorset 5 Fern Lane Kingcombe

We found this wonderful lane near our accommodation in Dorset by accident but a great find with vibrant ferns lining both sides of the track.

Dorset 4.Tyneham the Forgotten Village

On Sunday we visited Tyneham, the village that time forgot. It was evacuated in 1943 to provide a practice range for the army and never repopulated. Some buildings are now derelict but the Church, Farm and Schoolroom are complete as they were pre1943. Infrared images on Sony RX100

Dorset 3: Early Morning Stroll

There are seven fishing lakes here where we are staying in Dorset so an early morning stroll gives lots of opportunity for insect and spider photographs of dew-covered species.

Dorset 2:Powerstock Common

This is our usual first site to visit on our traditional CCC week's visit to Dorset and there was plenty to photograph including this Lizard sunbathing on a leaf though insects were not as abundant as previous years (shown Alder Spittlebug, Bloody nosed Beetle, caterpillar of Common Blue Butterfly, Broad-Bodied Chaser, Four-Spot Chaser, Large Skipper, Meadow Brown and Speckled Wood). Bee Orchids are in short supply but plenty of Common Spotted Orchids plus Heath Spotted Orchids on the Heathland areas
