Perhaps due to the lack of frost, it has not been a great year for autumn colours with a lot of leaves shrivelling before falling but there were enough colourful trees at Santon Downham to keep our small party from CCC happy playing with ICM and Multiple exposure. I used two different camera systems - the morning set here were handheld with the Fuji X100V which has the facility to take multiple exposure and to change blending modes. Most of these are only 2 exposures in Average mode - for instance, the first image has one out of focus image blended with an in-focus image. Images 3 and 6 have a colour temperature change between exposures etc!

Cambridge Blue Hour
Our group of photographers met up on Saturday in time to cover the 'so-called' Blue Hour when it is possible to balance the light in the sky with any artificial lighting. On a sunny day, it happens when the sun's elevation is between -4 degrees and -6 degrees, just below the horizon line either before sunrise or just after sunset, ranging between 20 and 40 minutes, depending on the weather. Here are my series of images taken between 16.15 and 17.15 on an overcast day.

Wonderful Light: Phone Camera
I took Ted for his afternoon walk from Toft church to Comberton church - the light turned out to be wonderful with dark clouds in the distance - unfortunately I only had my phone with me - an old model with a not-great camera. I always enjoy this track - it is recorded that John Bunyan would have walked this on his journey from church to church in the area. Very different then as, where the golf course now is, was marshland even when I came to Toft in the 1960s

Frampton Marshes Landscapes
The overcast conditions at Frampton on Tueday suited landscape photography very well bringing out the subtle tones and colours

Sidgwick Site November Evening
We enjoyed an hour photographing the Sidgwick site in Cambridge yesterday after all light had gone from the overcast sky but with damp pavements and heavy cloud reflecting back the city lights. Difficult to know where to set the White balance when processing the images so I have left it on as shot with the variety of colours this produces.

RSPB Frampton Marsh Birds
Overcast but largely dry day for our RPS Nature Group visit to Frampton Marshes. Not ideal for distant photography, but I did enjoy the landscape (later blog post) and a few birds came close enough for portraits in habitat. Frampton is renown for its huge flocks of ducks and waders and also Raptors - we enjoyed views of Peregrine, Merlin and, for one Member, Short-eared Owl.
