It was great to visit Paxton Pits this morning and see the water level is fairly high and the lakes are full of ducks - Widgeon, Gadwall, Shoveller, Tufted, Mallard etc. The trees are turning fast and gave lovely colours for backdrops and reflections with alternately dark and sunny skies. A Great Crested Grebe had quite a tussle with a fish, while being mobbed by Black-Headed Gulls.

CRUFC v. Plymouth Albion 20-20 All Square
It was definitely a game of two halves with Cambridge getting all their points in the first half with the wind behind them and Albion scoring most of theirs in the second half.

The Workhouse, Nottinghamshire - Nik Recipes
Following an evening on Nik software, which included the making and saving of recipes, here are five images each subjected to two very different recipes that I made. The Workhouse, Southwell (National Trust) has been extensively altered since my last visit and the Infirmary opened to show how the building was from the 1960s till it closed in the 1980s.

Dovedale Floods and Clumber Park
Our route back from the Peak District was via Dovedale and Clumber Park (both National Trust). We wondered why the car park was quite empty when we arrived at Dovedale - the valley was flooded and it was not possible to get across the stepping stones or to easily walk along the other side of the river. However the colours reflected in the extensive water areas made up for it.
Clumber Park was very busy with people out enjoying the autumn trees.

Morning Mist in the Peak District
We set off from Buxton to drive to Dovedale wanting to get there early but got distracted by a very unusual sky, the frost on the grass and the mist in the valleys so a few shots here into the sun and away from it.

Buxton Last sunlight and Night Images
We were staying in Buxton on Saturday night and drove across from the PAGB finals in Chorley just in time to get the last of the sunshine on the autumn trees just outside the town. We then spent an hour taking images in the Gardens as the light went completely from the sky and finally it was dark and clear enough for a myriad of stars.
