Rugby in the Snow

After a beautiful sunny day on Friday, with Tortoiseshell and Brimstone Butterflies on the wing and Skylarks in full song, yesterday was a return to winter with snow squalls all day and a bitterly cold wind. The Rugby players seem undeterred with an exciting game - CRUFC lost 15-25 to Darlington Mowden Park but they certainly held their own against the second in the league table.

Guernsey Weekend 4

Now back in Cambridge but here a few images from Sunday when the sun shone for a short while! Loved the cottage and Grape Hyacinths and how camouflaged the Hedge Sparrow is in its habitat

Guernsey Weekend 3

Sunday morning was sunny with even a bit of warmth in the air so we walked along the coast path from Grande Rocques to Le Grand Havre. Here some images to show the variety of different beaches in just this small stretch of the coast.

Guernsey Weekend 2

We went for a walk along the cliffs at Pleinmont. The sunlight on the cliffs was a bit harsh for photographs though the warmth was welcome after all the grey days. The light was excellent on these scramble bikes competing in races on the track there.

Guernsey Weekend 1

Lovely to be back on Guernsey - thanks to Jan and David for inviting me for the weekend and arranging some very good weather today. A real feel of spring with warm sunshine on                   Vazon Bay and a few insects waking up.

Fun with Ink Drops

We spent an enjoyable though sometimes frustrating (due to triggering problems with flash guns) couple of hours dropping coloured ink into water and trying to catch interesting collisions like the first one where a drop coming down has hit one going up. We really need a more complicated release mechanism for the ink drops - perhaps next year!!
