Emsworth Through the Day

I spent the morning and late in the afternoon at Emsworth, a small town in Hampshire near the border of West Sussex. The town has a basin for small yachts and fishing boats, which fills at high tide and can be emptied through a sluice at low tide. It also has an abundance of Nature Reserves including the Brook Meadow with it Butterbur and Wild Cherry. As it was high tide at midday and not suitable for bird watching, I returned later in the afternoon when the mudflats were exposed.

Winkworth Arboretum

I visited Winkworth Arboretum (National Trust), near Godalming, on my way down to Chichester area yesterday. It was mainly cloudy but the spring flowers still looked great and a Grey Wagtail and Little Grebe entertained me for a time near the famous boathouse

Many Shades of Grey at Wimpole Cambridgeshire

Always a good place for a walk, Wimpole was decidedly grey yesterday under uniform cloud. I decided to give the infrared camera an outing and like the soft-contrast images it has produced

Cambridge on a Rainy Morning

Not many people hope for a rainy day but I was pleased  when yesterday morning proved wet as I was due to help Keith from Doncaster add to his portfolio of atmospheric Cambridge scenes. I did feel sorry for the Punting companies who were pretty idle in the morning. Thanks to Scudamores employee and the lady on King's Parade for posing for us. Amazed at the variety of food available to sit and eat on the Market now.

Focus Stacking and Extreme Macro

We spent an enjoyable day at Sylvie's learning about making Blogs and Books but I also ventured out into the grounds. Here a few attempts at getting very close. First with focus stacking a small moss - result plus first and last of 59 image stack. Secondly I used an extension ring on my 50 mm Touit lens on the fuji at F22 to get personal with some lichen. Not that successful - probably camera shake even though on tripod but must test lens combination in case sharpness falls off significantly at small aperture
