Shortgrove Estate Newport

Sixteen members of Cambridge CC spent a very enjoyable day photographing the grounds and old greenhouses at Shortgrove Private Estate Newton.   Thank you Sylvie for organising this. First a few infrared images using the hastily made raw conversion profile - a slightly different colour combination to my usual one but I think it works OK for the subject.

What Next for the Aura Nightclub Newmarket

This building is currently closed having finished as the Aura nightclub in 2014.  It was built in 1936 as the Doric cinema and closed in 1964. Since then it has been used for night clubs and also the Orange Pub. Planning permission for flats was recently refused. These locals show the general desire for it to be returned as a local amenity - Cinema/bowling alley etc - Newmarket currently has no entertainment other the pubs and nightclubs.

A brief visit to Tattersalls Auction this afternoon - always a privilege to see such beautiful horses many sold for very large amounts. 

Welney Highlights

Just the right conditions for a visit to the Ouse Washes at Welney. Although there were not many swans coming into feed there was plenty of activity to keep a party from CCC occupied. A few of my favourites including the first showing four species of duck, the splendour of a male mallard in good light, a pair of mute swans in complete synchrony (their rings are consecutive numbers!), whoopers flying in and then squabbling, a rook chasing a sparrowhawk, male pochard as the sunset lit the water and the final sunset itself with a bit of 'creative' input (those brushes get everywhere).

CRUFC Beat Barnes 62-15

Intermittent sunshine and very strong winds for match against Barnes which CRUFC managed to win convincingly with 62 to 15.

Fun with Fuji and Beach Huts

Sometimes serendipity can play a part in creativity - here are some very strange images taken with the Fuji X-T1 sweep panorama mode - by mistake moved along the wrong axis!! Not very repeatable but managed a couple more after the first boats one, which is not quite in focus. I also include two 'correct' sweeps though I have gone a bit close at the tops, one image where I moved a bit fast and one multiple exposure image. Last four images normal mode just to show what a beautiful morning it was on Wednesday after the storm.
