Contrasts

Images of my Christmas Cactus (yes, it does start earlier every year) taken on a lightbox with overhead flash (on the left) and with a polaroid sheet and filter (right) showing the beautiful detail you get on the polarisong sheet.
I am returning to my blog posts after a week's absence - all due to my two grandaughters who entertained us while the Mummy and Daddy were in Chicago for 5 days

London to Bath in the Rain

Fungus Foray Santon Downham and Brandon Country Park

It isn't a bumper year for fungi in Thetford but a good variety of species was found and photographed on Sunday. I was using a 24 mm shift lens which gave a good depth of field where needed. Shot at f22 except image 5 (f13) and image 7 (f11). Small fill-in flash on most (not image 5 or 7)

Misty Morning at Santon Downham

Not quite Tangle Creek but the best Thetford Forest could do in the mist yesterday. Lots of spectacular cobwebs and some delightful small inkcaps (Hare's foot Inkcap (Coprinopsis lagopus)

Cumulus Clouds at Strethall

There have been some fabulous cloud formations in the last three days so I thought it time to give the infrared camera an outing. The last image is processed in Silver Efex to show the detail that it brings out of cloud structures.

Meerkats and Red Kites

The three Red Kites that visited Hamerton Zoo yesterday for their tea did not go unoticed by the Meerkats who watched their every move. The kites swooped down and removed a chick from the large stork enclosure.
