Cambridge Towers in Infrared
Inspired by Dave Yates (http://www.daveyatesphotography.com) IR images that he showed on Monday, I dusted off my Infrared-converted camera for a shopping trip into Cambridge. Bit too much cloud on occasions to get good contrast in the sky but here are four 'old' towers to show it works with these as well as the ultramodern.

Scarborough Then and Now
Scarborough South beach area has changed very little since 1900 when the first photo was taken with its mobile bathing huts. Scarborough is now a very multicultural place with all nationalities mixing happily on the beach with their different cultural dress.
The harbour has obviously changed a lot from the busy dock of the 1900s to a place of leisure. The painting was done by Frederick William booty and you can see from the following two photos how the artist's licence has allowed him to elongate the whole scene even though he is viewing from an apparent higher point.

Scarborough at Night
A second night-time session in Scarborough, this time with the Canon 5D III on a tripod so possible to do some real long exposures.
Fulmars and a Gannet
A few images taken from the boat of Fulmars in the sky and against the sea and a favourite Gannet image with backgrouns sea and cliffs.

Gannets from the Boat
On Wednesday, I took a trip on the Yorkshire Belle along to the cliffs at Bempton that we had viewed the day before from above. The Gannets wheeled around the ship and I enjoyed capturing their flight antics. I like the subdued lighting and bland skies though this may not be to everyone's taste.

Night lights in Scarborough
The superior intelligence mode on the Sony cameras allows shooting in almost complete dark situations handheld. The high ISO results in a lot of noise but the pictures are certainly good enough for on-line use. The last image is sunrise on Wednesday morning.

Gannets and Fulmars at Bempton RSPB Reserve
Beautiful day at Bempton Cliffs where the Gannets still have young. There are 22,000 gannets there so plenty of opportunity to catch them in flight along with Fulmars and Herring Gulls. Also good to see a large flock of Tree Sparrows.
