Rugby

 The light was very bright yesterday so, although good to be able to set a fast shutterspeed, the images were very contrasty. It was quite a tussle between Cambridge RUFC and visiting Tynedale and Cambridge snatched vistory in the last minute of injury time with a penalty.

Local Sunflowers

 It is a couple of weeks since I did the full circuit walk round our village allotments and was delighted to find the fallow field is now full of Sunflowers just about at their peak.

Dogs, Horses and Legs

What an amazing collection of dogs at the Gransden Show today  - they came in ones,  twos and more and always among the feet.

I was also intrigued the way the horses and their handlers ran exactly in step.

Macro with Flash

A few shots taken in very windy conditions yesterday using a Speedlight 550 flash with my 100 is macro lens experimenting to see how slow a shutterspeed will work and still give lighting on the background. The slowest shutterspeed here is 1/40th so often not quite enough depth of field.

Ely Cathedral

 I took my Tilt and Shift 24mm lens for an outing to Ely Cathedral yesterday with our visitors from Guernsey. The dull light helped to allow a balance of windows and interior light. These images needed no perspective correction. A tricky lens to use but helped by the live view facility on the Canon 5D as it is totally manual.

Southwold and Walbleswick

 Great day out with club members from Cambridge CC and our visitors from Spectrum Guernsey.

Snettisham Wader Spectacular

The predicted high tide arrived an hour early this morning due to strong onshore wind so the Knot (top image) followed by the Black-tailed Godwits soon filled the shingle island in the gravel pits at Snettisham. I tried some slower shutterspeeds (1/50th) . The waders stayed at the roost for a full three hours after high tide but eventually lifted and were off.

Southern Hawker

 This Southern Hawker was laying eggs in the moss around Colen and Julia' pond in Toft. Not great shots as taken with the G12 and flash but wanted to put it in the blog to record the late date.
