We were too late in the year and the day for much Heron activity but still fun to watch their antics when they woke up for short spells. Some appear to be sitting on eggs still.
The Canada Geese were the most vocal especially now with young. Otherwise recorded Dabchick,Coot, Yellow Wagtail, Tufted Duck and Pied WagtailFriday, May 4, 2018

Bluebell Time at Waresley Woods, Cambs
The bluebells are extra good in the birch wood at Waresley this year. I chose a too bright afternoon to visit but enjoyed the smells and colours of the wood and trying a few soft focus views and camera rotations etc. They have sensibly deterred people from wandering in but there are plenty of viewpoints to try and record that illusive colour and shape.

Wicken Fen on a Windy day
We didn't see a lot of birds on our windy walk at Wicken Fen yesterday though this Little Grebe came close enough to snap from the New Hide and the Gadwall were looking in great condition. There were lots of St Mark's flies everywhere as well as several hoverflies, parastitic wasps and a splendid small spider that signalled with its palps in an entertaining way.

Garden Safari in Toft
It has been a disappointing year so far for insects in the garden with the cold spring followed by too hot conditions for hoverflies but yesterday's cooler conditions saw three species of hovers on the wing plus a flesh fly, a couple of shield bugs etc.
